Expectations
Expectations are funny things, aren’t they? If they’re met, most people don’t think twice about them. If they’re not, the result can be disappointment, hurt, and even anger. I’ve known people who choose to avoid setting any sort of expectation, so they can’t be let down – but I believe that if my God says He will do something, He WILL do it. So I’m going to take my expectations for this trip just from His promises.
I expect that God will be in Nicaragua, and will reveal Himself to me. I don’t know what that will look like. Maybe through nature, maybe through the locals we meet, maybe (no, definitely) through the girls on my team.
I expect to be spiritually attacked. Discouragement, temptations, lies, pain.. Satan knows I am actively following God, taking up my sword and fighting for the Kingdom, and he hates it.
I expect that God will show His strength in my weaknesses and failures. As much as I would like to say otherwise, I will make mistakes on this trip. Yet God is good.
