I live in Granada, Nicaragua with my husband, dog, cat, Yener, Oneyda and Nureybeth (the Vida Joven Granada directors). We moved here in August of last year as AIM supported missionaries, formerly from the amazing city of Birmingham, Alabama. I turned 30 last October, and my husband is 32. We own a web design studio called D2L Studios. We work with Charles and Sarah Kaye at the AIM base in Granada. We love love love what we’re doing here, and can’t wait for everyone to be part of it. BTW, Jessica was part of the first group that stayed long term here. So we both know the area and can’t wait to go CRAZY with you guys. By crazy I mean reading our Bible and praying a lot, and going to bed really early (*ahem* in case parents are reading).

Cue Cheesy Intro
I just read Jessica’s great intro post and was motivated into writing my own. The thing is, I’m not really an intro kind of person so bear with me if the cheese gets too thick.
So I guess you want to know about my salvation and stuff. I was born into a Baptist family. I came to Christ as a nine year old, but only in the typical fire escape story. I was terrified of death and hell, and so I asked Christ to keep me from that. I avoided asking him to change me until I was 25. The years in between were spent in rebellion to my parents and to God. After years of really hating myself and acting out in really destructive ways, I finally gave up and asked God to help me. He delivered in big ways. Literally every bad experience has been used for his glory in my life. Come have coffee with me and I’ll tell you all about it.
A few interesting (and completely random) facts…
-I really love solid colors. It takes a lot of work for me to slip into anything with a pattern. Animal prints? Just ain’t going to happen.
-I have yet to finish my BA degree (political science major, history minor). I should get around to it in the next ten years. But then again, my love of photography might just take over instead.
-I have a sick love of all things Nacho Libre and Napoleon Dynamite and have a firm belief that if you can’t laugh, you aren’t enjoying life. My mom calls this the “laugh so you don’t cry” philosophy. Life is hard enough without a sense of humor.
-I have (between my family and my spouse’s family) one sister, five brothers, three brothers-in-law, six sisters-in-law, four parents, twenty nieces and nephews, two future nieces and nephews, one amazing grandmother, one grandfather-in-law, and so many aunts, uncles, cousins, cousins once removed, second, third, fourth and fifth cousins that I’ll never be able to count them up. Our families are HUGE. I can’t name them all nor can I ever hope to remember their birthdays.
